In the language of the Wulgurukaba peoples, Buli translates to Kangaroo. For Tylah, the kangaroo represents unity, connection and togetherness, carrying deep cultural significance for Indigenous Australians while remaining one of Australia’s most iconic symbols.

The Buli design tells a story of interconnected communities, Country and culture. The gathering circles represent meeting places, where people come together to share stories, knowledge and connection. Flowing pathways weave between the circles, symbolising the bonds that connect communities across Country, reminding us that we are all connected through culture, kinship and shared stories.

Woven throughout the artwork are kangaroo and goanna tracks. The goanna holds a particularly personal meaning for Tylah, as one of her totems connected to her Wiradjuri heritage. Its inclusion is a tribute to her cultural identity, ancestry and the enduring connection between people, animals and Country.

The earthy colour palette draws inspiration from the richness of Country, reflecting the deep cultural significance of land, heritage and belonging.

At its heart, Buli is a celebration of unity. A reminder of the importance of coming together, honouring our connections and carrying culture forward.
